Teams to end poverty

ENVIRONMENT AND POVERTY

As the 21st century begins, 12% of mammals, 11% of birds and 4% of fish and reptiles are facing extinction

Soil degradation and erosion, use or abuse of chemicals, overgrazing or deforestation in the long term are causing loss of earnings among small-holders thereby condemning them to poverty. Air, water or earth pollution is threatening the health of everyone on this planet. Lack of education or information is preventing poor people from properly managing natural resources and arranging sustainable protection of the environment.

Pollution kills almost 2-and-a-half million people in the world every year

"Pollution can bring misery. We must stop polluting."
Bruna, 14
